Hi!

I'm Michael.

Product leader based in Park City, Utah. Former data scientist. Building with agents to explore how AI-native workflows are reshaping the developer experience.

I started my career as a data scientist, but I realized pretty quickly that I cared more about creating impact for customers than perfecting the math. That realization led me to product management, where I get to obsess over the problem behind the problem—understanding not just what's broken, but why it matters to people, their teams, and their business.

Most recently, I was Director of PM at Cockroach Labs, where my team of four PMs owned the core value proposition of CockroachDB—the performance, resilience, and scalability that are the reason customers choose a distributed database in the first place. We also owned the SQL experience end-to-end, from schema management to query optimization. Beyond my product area, I led company-wide initiatives including our strategic market segmentation effort.

What drives me is digging into the "why" behind every request. I'm a believer in understanding the real impact—not just what customers can't do in the product, but how it affects them as humans, their bosses, and their business. This approach helps teams see solutions beyond what customers are asking for, because at the end of the day, it's the outcome that matters.

That same instinct is what I'm pursuing now. I'm building with agents and AI-native tools — not to become an engineer, but to develop firsthand empathy for the people navigating this new ecosystem. Understanding how AI is reshaping developer workflows from the inside gives me sharper intuition for where products need to go next.

When I'm not thinking about products, you'll find me hiking with my dog, skiing with the kids, cheering on my beloved Stanford Cardinal, or strategizing my way to another Scoresheet Baseball championship (three-time champion and counting).
