Activation Flow Prototype
An AI-powered UI concept reimagining the CockroachDB console as a guided activation hub.
Database-as-a-Service consoles tend to treat their UI as a passive dashboard — a place to monitor what already exists. This project proposed flipping that model entirely. The concept reimagined the CockroachDB Cloud console as the starting point for all activation flows: creating clusters, connecting applications, inviting teammates, and configuring key settings — all guided by intelligent, context-aware prompts.
The prototype used AI-driven mockups to demonstrate how controlled onboarding could work across customer segments, including Self-Hosted users who historically received little in-product guidance. Rather than dropping users into an empty console, the design walked them through high-value actions based on their deployment type, team size, and usage patterns.
The goal was to reduce time-to-value and increase feature adoption by meeting customers where they are. By making the console itself an activation engine, the concept showed how a thoughtful first-run experience could accelerate the entire customer journey.
